I also just generally love the idea of exploring New York as someone who lives there but prefers the couch on most days! thank you for the inspiration to get the heck up and go the heck out
There is so much to explore! That’s sort of what I love about the city - it’s like a video game I’ll never finish so it never gets boring. That said, I also looooove a good couch day.
I used to frequent a place where a lady told you which bathroom stall to use, and it was called the Boardy Barn!
Also: tell me all about Oh Mary! I meant to tell you I did look for tickets, but I got scared off the price when they said Cole was leaving. Tell me if it's worth it!!
Haha they were literally a last minute detour because I just happened to remember that they existed. I want to go back to Times Square at midnight one night actually to 1) get a clearer listen and 2) see the midnight art installation. We can go together for round 2.
So great! The city needs more sound installations! I just stumbled upon Chambers Hum in the subway the other day and, after reading this, realized that it must be an homage to Neuhaus's work. "These people, having no way of knowing that it has been deliberately made, usually claim the work as a place of their own discovering." I totally thought I had just discovered some unintentional harmonic convergence created by subway infrastructure —until I saw the QR code.
Omg I guarantee you are much more cooler than me (see, I’m so uncool I can’t even do grammar) but I do feel so seen whenever I get a shoutout for being a fellow cat mom 🧡🤎🖤
this is like a very specific atlas obscura with a personal flair and I love it
omg thank you so much 🥹
I've been reading Atlas Obscura articles for years so this is such a nice thing to hear.

I tried to explain the Boardy Barn to my new coworkers and there’s just no way to put it into words.
Where are the cheese and cracker pics?
Oh wait there they are. Thank you.
I tried to find photos of the legendary giant tub of cheese that used to exist but its existence remains a mystery.
I would have done the damn subway grates with you!!

Can I invite myself? I love midnight adventures, just let me take a nap or have a second coffee beforehand
Absolutely yes and I will also be struggling to stay awake.

What if all of the sounds we hear in the city are actually manufactured sound installations and we just haven’t found all the QR codes 😳
Then I really need to find the QR code that shuts off the back patio to the bar in my neighborhood
