Waiiiiiiit I also don’t like when movies are playing in museums. It takes me out of the museum experience slightly, especially since it’s almost always a 30 minute movie that I’m only coming in halfway through and I can’t follow the continuity and I feel left out… idk, movies are such a specific vibe for me that I just can’t have them interrupting my consumption of other art. I’m sorry!!!
I went to college on Staten Island and rode that ferry hundreds of times… and even for me, twice in one weekend these days sounds like a lot! Have fun!!
When you walk on the ferry, stay right! Find a seat on the upper deck on the right side for a nice view. Best restaurants is Enoteca Maria, but also love Joe & Pat’s pizzeria (though this is out of the way). If you were drinker, I’d also send you to Flagship Brewery. Enoteca Maria & Flagship are both walking distance from the ferry station!
I skipped it for the longest time too! Hard to compete with The Met right down the block. Definitely worth a visit at least to gawk at the Gilded Age architecture!
I loved learning about Ernestine! Thanks for sharing her story.
(And I've never been to cooper Hewitt also! Must remedy)

Omg give me all the deets! What is the best seat on the ferry? Where should I eat? What else should I do there?

Somehow I’ve never made it to the Cooper Hewitt, looks super cool!

I thought the same thing! I can’t wait to go to this museum. Definitely the best thing to do on a hot day in the city! Thanks Eden!
