New York City is a big place and I want to take you along to see and learn as much as possible🚡
NYC is an amazing place to live that’s as beautiful as it is disgusting and as welcoming as it is harsh. It’s easy to believe that NYC is exactly what you see in the movies and to some degree it is, but there’s so much more under the surface if you just take the time to learn and explore. My goal is to get outside of my own personal bubble and share fun and exciting and educational experiences with you 🤸 ✨
Who the heck am I?🕴
👋 I’m Eden, named after my great-grandma Edith, a lady with big hair & big dreams. She moved from Belarus to Sheepshead Bay and I never got to meet her, but everyone in my family says I’m the spitting image of that little lady.
🎬 I studied film in college, worked in that world for a bit, then left the biz. I currently work at a food startup doing employee experience/office management stuff, but I still love watching movies.
🗽 Born on Long Island, living in Brooklyn for almost 20 years. I’ve moved from Bensonhurst to Gravesend, Bed-Stuy to Bushwick, watched the V train disappear, fallen asleep and ended up in Coney Island, and gotten stuck in the Bermuda Triangle that is the Dekalb Interlocking too many times to count.
🐱 Mom of two cats, dessert aficionado. I literally give people directions based on where my favorite ice cream shops are. I also grew up eating ketchup on my pasta so there’s that.
🪪 I’m a licensed NYC Tour Guide and I would love to show you around the city! Hop over to my tour page and let’s plan something.
All subscribers get weekly Thursday posts containing a mix of:
😋 NOSHING - Reviews of restaurants or food I’ve tried. This ain’t Yelp babe, I’ll be super honest about what was good, if the bathrooms were nice, and give you some tips for the best experience.
🍿 WATCHING - I went to film school and (for better or worse) love thinking and talking about movies and TV shows. Sure this doesn’t really have anything to do with NYC, but I need an outlet and here you are.
🛼 EXPLORING - NYC has endless things to do and I’m taking you along while I try as much as I can! Museum visits, craft classes, parks worth the subway trek - we’re gonna do it all.
🧠 LEARNING - I am an absolute nerd for NYC history and frequently go down rabbit holes to learn more about buildings, neighborhoods, people, infrastructure, and anything else that helped create the city that I call home.
😎 WHAT’S GOOD - Every issue has an event roundup. I focus on more niche and affordable events that other big roundup accounts might not post. I write about events a week-ish before they occur because I hate it when I hear about an event happening tonight and it’s already sold out.
🐱 Bonus pictures of my cats (and sometimes pictures of other people’s cats when I’m on a cat sitting gig)
My posts don’t contain paywalls because I don’t believe in gatekeeping information, but I do offer a pretty affordable subscription if you’d like to support me 🦄
I spend a lot of time each week researching and writing this newsletter, and a paid subscription shows me that you appreciate my efforts and enjoy reading what I write 🖤
I also offer paid subscribers help planning outings in NYC! Want a restaurant rec for a group dinner? Need help planning a day of events while you’re visiting? I gotchu! I’m also happy to be on call for any other NYC-related stuff you can think of that I haven’t thought of yet. Just respond to a newsletter by email or message me in Substack.
